From Code Compliance to Fire Safety: Maximizing the Potential of Foam Plastic Insulation in Building Envelope Design

Approximately 1 hour

This course examines foam plastic materials and their uses in the building envelope under the ICC model building codes (International Building Code®, International Residential Code®, and International Energy Conservation Code®). The examination will review the different foam plastic technologies, where they find application and function in modern building envelopes, and the applicable code requirements for these materials and assemblies in which they are used. The course will also provide important information helping designers to understand where provisions in different code intersect and influence each other (for example energy efficiency and fire safety) when designing and specifying code-compliant building envelopes.
