1201 Normandy and the Evolution of Precast Concrete at the Philadelphia Navy Yard

1201 Normandy at the Philadelphia Navy Yard represents the most recent addition to a growing collection of modern, LEED-Gold buildings at the Philadelphia Navy Yard to feature precast concrete. During this tour, participants will learn about the history and future of the Philadelphia Navy Yard from developer Ensemble/Mosaic at their state-of-the-art marketing center. A walking tour will follow, guided by Architects from DIGSAU and Precast Concrete Fabricator High Concrete Group. The tour will end with a Question and Answer session and opportunity to meet and network with fellow attendees. The tour will focus on the use of precast concrete on the project, pointing out the unique design opportunities and schedule advantages. The team will discuss the use of mock-ups to refine the color, joint pattern, and texture of the concrete, and describe the benefits and challenges with utilizing precast concrete in a high-performance, LEED-Gold building.
