Third-party environmental product declarations (EPDs), using a life-cycle analysis (LCA) approach, provide a comprehensive analysis and quantification of a product’s sustainability. This course examines how EPDs can inform sustainable site furniture selection and how the use of sustainable site furniture can contribute to meeting various credit requirements of LEED® v4.1 Building Design and Construction, Sustainable SITES Initiative® v2, and the WELL Building Standard™ version 2.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explain how to understand and utilize an EPD to make sustainable design decisions that benefit users and the environment.
  • Design sustainable public spaces with amenities from manufacturers offering EPDs and improved life-cycle impacts to meet LEED v4.1 and SITES v2 requirements.
  • Incorporate appropriate site amenities to enhance user well-being and mental restoration as required by WELL v2 and SITES v2.
  • Design outdoor seating arrangements that foster social connection and meet the requirements of WELL v2 and SITES v2.
