Biophilic design is a methodology for designing buildings and landscapes that improve human health and well-being while fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world. This course provides an overview of biophilic design and its frameworks and how it can help projects earn certification through LEED® v4.1 Building Design and Construction (BD+C): New Construction, WELL Building Standard™ version 2, Sustainable SITES Initiative® v2, and the Living Building Challenge (LBC).

Background:
Matt is the Sales Director of Building Products for Thermory USA. His skill set was built on a foundation of retail sales principles learned from his grandfather’s import business, where critical listening and customer service were cornerstones. He later became a carpenter, carrying those retail skills into his interactions with homeowners. Carpentry led him to woodworking, where he managed a custom shop specializing in furniture made from reclaimed lumber. From there, he transitioned into full-scale architectural millwork, serving as a senior project manager and member of the leadership team.
These diverse experiences allow Matt to truly listen to and understand the needs of architects and designers while applying his hands-on expertise to guide designs from vision to reality. With 12 years of experience in the lumber industry, Matt is thrilled to now be part of the team at Thermory USA.
