Firestopping is more than installing sealant in an opening. It is a critical component of a building’s overall life-safety system. This course discusses how a properly installed firestop system not only protects property but, more importantly, also saves lives by inhibiting the spread of fire from compartment to compartment and buying valuable time for occupants to exit the structure in the event of a catastrophic fire.

Name: Lucas Mayer and Sam Sanderson
Title: Lucas Mayer, Product Category Manager, Firestop, and Sam Sanderson, Technical Product Engineer, Grabber Construction Products
Background:
Lucas Mayer is originally from Grand Rapids, MI, and grew up outside the city in a rural area with limited work options, mostly centered around the building trades. From a young age, he worked as a carpenter’s helper during summers and later attended a tech program in high school where he learned electrical and welding skills. After graduating, Lucas became an electrician’s apprentice and quickly realized that he wanted to do more. He became skilled in various trades, including pouring concrete foundations, trim carpentry, steelwork, and equipment operations. Lucas worked his way through the ranks in every trade to learn as much as possible! The more he learned, the deeper he wanted to understand every aspect of the construction industry. To this day, Lucas remains fascinated by every part of construction, continuously learning from and growing in this dynamic field.
Sam Sanderson has been working with Grabber Construction Products for over five years. During that time, Sam has been most closely connected to the technical aspects of the products, including quality, technical support, regulatory compliance, and product certifications and evaluations.
