Wet areas in healthcare facilities pose numerous challenges when it comes to designing an environment that is safe for patients and staff. As specialized rooms are being replaced with functional spaces covering a range of mental and physical health concerns, it is important to consider universal design. This course explores how to create spaces that work for all and how to create environments that are durable, hygienic, and ligature and slip resistant.

Susan Drew is the Market Segment Manager, Senior Living and Residential Healthcare for Altro Americas. With over fifteen years of experience in the flooring and wall cladding industry and a marketing background, Susan brings a wealth of knowledge to the unique challenges of the residential healthcare/senior living care environment. In the past five years, she has traveled across North America speaking to the A&D community and discussing how the built environment can benefit our most vulnerable populations.
Steve McIntosh is Whitehall Manufacturing’s Director, National Sales. Whitehall Manufacturing provides the health care and rehabilitation industries with BestCare ligature resistant products for Behavioral Health, in-room patient care units and toilets, surgical scrub sinks, dialysis boxes, and physical therapy/sports medicine products that are unsurpassed in quality, function and durability.
In this position, Mr. McIntosh is responsible for coordinating sales efforts with the Whitehall’s independent representatives, and promoting products to architects, engineers and end users.
