Sound abatement products are not just a building owner and occupant preference; minimum sound abatement ratings are required by many local building codes for multi-story residential, commercial, and multi-purpose buildings. Following an introduction to the basics of sound, this course presents a summary of the most common sound control methods, with a focus on the options available for floor underlayment.

Background: After serving 7 years in the United States Army in the medical field, I went to the University of Cincinnati with a major in Business. While going to school I became involved in the floor covering industry and it stuck. I have been involved from the retail, distribution, and manufacturing side. Currently I am the Chief Operating Officer for an International Company called Proflex Products, Inc. Specializing in Sound Control underlayments and complete systems for any of your floorcovering needs. I sit on the ASTM E33 and E60 committees for Sound Control and Waterproofing, the TCNA and NTCA Technical committees and I am a member of the NWFA and GREEN Council of North America.
