DEBUT FOR THE MARMOMACC ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN COMPETITION 2012: HUNTING FOR NEW TALENT AMONG 180,000 ARCHITECTS WORLD-WIDE A unusual competition to valorise the best applications of natural stone in design solutions for spas, wine bars, restaurants and shops: this is the objective of the Marmomacc Architecture and Design Competition 2012. Participants will have until 2 September to submit their projects. This initiative, implemented in collaboration with Archi-Europe, sees Marmomacc confirm is status as a leading event even for promotion of culture and training activities in the marble sector. Verona, 22 May 2012. This challenge through to the very last project from here to September will involve 180,000 architects from all over the world in the first edition of Marmomacc Architecture and Design Competition 2012. The absolute protagonist is natural stone as the central element in building and furnishing spas, wine bars, restaurants and shops. The best nine ideas will receive awards during the 47th edition of Marmomacc (www.marmomacc.com), the most important International Exhibition dedicated to marble and processing technologies, scheduled 26-29 September 2012 at VeronaFiere. For young architects, the event is a unique occasion for promoting their talent, since the winners in each category will present their projects during a specific seminar, while the others will have the chance to display them during a specific exhibition. The competition is being implemented by Marmomacc with the collaboration of Archi-Europe, the network bringing together more than 72,000 European architecture studios. Members of the Jury include Vincenzo Pavan, the architecture consultant for Marmomacc, Marie-Claire Regniers, a journalist specialising in design, and Jacques Allard, Executive Director of Archi-Europe. The contest is only one of the innovations envisaged for the 47th Marmomacc, as ever an international showcase at VeronaFiere which, over and above bringing together exhibitors and buyers from all over the world, also promotes the culture of natural stone with initiatives such as the Stone Academy focusing on training for sector professionals such as architects and engineers.
