May 25, 2010

WASHINGTON, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Education Services and AIA|DC announced today that they are launching a new program called GreenEdu Academy, a full-day workshop consisting of five educational sessions for industry professionals interested in learning more about topics on green building and USGBC's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The first workshop is scheduled for June 15, 2010 at the AIA DC chapter office. Topics to be covered throughout the day include a comparison of LEED versions 2.0 and 3.0, the minimum program requirements for a LEED project, an introduction to sustainable site initiatives, an overview of stormwater management, and a discussion on green roofs. The seminars will provide participants with up-to-date information on the green building industry and LEED. In addition, the combination of courses will be worth 7.5 continuing education hours, which can be used towards architectural license renewal and AIA CEU requirements. GreenEdu Academy can also be applied to LEED credential maintenance for LEED APs and Green Associates, which require 30 and 15 USGBC-Approved CEUs per two-year reporting period, respectively. GreenEdu is a USGBC education provider and all of the courses in this full-day workshop have been reviewed and approved by U.S. Green Building Council.
