February 19, 2010

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bay Colony Corporate Center has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver designation from the U.S. Green Building Council for the entire four-building campus. UGL Unicco LEED Accredited Professionals provided project management and consulting services to help the property manager, Broadway Real Estate Services, move through the accreditation process. Beyond what it says about the property’s environmental standing and management practices, the designation is significant since it is one of only a few commercial real estate campuses nationwide that has achieved LEED for Existing Building status for an entire campus. The property consists of three 4-story buildings and one 3-story building totaling 980,000 square feet situated on 58 acres. LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance certification sets standards, and measures sustainability under several categories such as: sustainable sites, including landscape management and light pollution; water efficiency; energy and atmosphere; materials and resources, including solid waste management and sustainable purchasing; indoor environmental quality; and innovations in operations.
