Eco-Friendly Air Barrier Stops Water, While Allowing Vapor to Move Freely Through

January 27, 2009

Hampshire, IL – AIR-SHIELD™ LMP from W. R. MEADOWS is a water-based air/liquid moisture barrier that cures to form a tough, seamless, elastomeric membrane. AIR-SHIELD LMP exhibits excellent resistance to air leakage. As a drainage plane, AIR-SHIELD LMP prohibits liquid water intrusion into the substrate, if properly applied. AIR-SHIELD LMP has been specifically formulated to act as an air and liquid moisture barrier, allowing vapor to pass through it while being impermeable to liquid water. It may be applied to most common surfaces and integrated into various wall systems. AIR-SHIELD LMP is suitable for both new construction and retrofit applications. AIR-SHIELD LMP provides an effective barrier to moisture migration, reducing condensation within the wall assembly and increasing efficiency of a building’s mechanical system. When moisture enters a building, it reduces the energy efficiency of the structure. AIR-SHIELD LMP plays a key role in maintaining the structure’s energy efficiency and aiding in the integrity of other structural systems, such as insulation. The high permeability characteristics of AIR-SHIELD LMP allow the transmission of moisture vapor through porous building materials. It is highly flexible, bridging cracks which may form in the substrate. It is UV resistant and ideal for exposed applications, such as beneath rain screen panels.
