By Combining Resources, Green Depot Broadens Services Nationwide, Taps Extensive Expertise of Greenmaker Staff Greenbuild International Conference and Expo 2008 BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Green Depot (www.greendepot.com) – the Brooklyn-based supplier of environmentally friendly and sustainable building products, services and solutions – today announced that it has merged with Chicago-based Greenmaker (www.greenmakersupply.com) to create the nation’s largest and most sophisticated supplier of green building materials. Green Depot serves residential and commercial builders and everyday homeowners nationwide through its Web site and throughout the Northeast with five outlets in Brooklyn, Boston, Philadelphia, Long Island, N.Y. and Newark, N.J. It also has 10 additional distribution centers in the mid-Atlantic region. In 2009, it plans to open three new retail outlets in Albany, N.Y., Newark, D.E., and a flagship store in the Bowery neighborhood of Manhattan. Since 2005, Greenmaker has served similar customers in the Chicago area through its retail store, e-commerce site and direct delivery. Greenmaker’s achievements have been recognized by numerous agencies and media outlets. Its strong position in Chicago coupled with its extensive proprietary product lines made Greenmaker an attractive partner for New York based Green Depot. “Green Depot’s mission is to make high quality, sustainable materials and product solutions accessible to builders and consumers. We strive to demystify what ‘green’ means so that customers are empowered to make the best decisions and drive the marketplace,” said Sarah Beatty, president and founder of Green Depot. “While our Web site allows us national reach, we are eager to serve the Chicagoland community better than ever. “Our values align completely with Greenmaker’s talented team. Their loyal customer base and superb location strongly position Green Depot for further growth in the Midwest,” she added. “We’re delighted now to share resources and work together in achieving our shared vision for an expanded, sophisticated green supply chain.” “We are excited to be joining forces with an organization whose mission is essentially identical to our mission at its core,” said Ori J. Sivan, co-founder and chief executive officer of Greenmaker. “This merger provides an unprecedented opportunity to expand the availability of green products and expertise nationwide at a time when our country is in desperate need of sustainable solutions and examples of innovative companies creating economic growth.” “The merged entity represents the nation’s largest and most sophisticated supplier of green building materials,” added Joe Silver, co-founder and chief operating officer of Greenmaker. “By consolidating our purchasing power and operations we are going to be able to offer pricing and service that rivals the conventional building materials industry.” Through the agreement, which was effective Nov. 18, 2008, Green Depot will operate in the Chicago area as Greenmaker, while the Greenmaker Web site will eventually point to www.greendepot.com. Ori Sivan and Joe Silver, Greenmaker’s founders, will become Green Depot’s director of market development and Chicago branch manager, overseeing the Midwest region, respectively. All other current Greenmaker employees will continue in their existing roles. Both organizations have established strong alliances, exclusive distributions and other partnerships with top industry producers and manufacturers in the Northeast, Chicago and nationwide. As part of the merger, Green Depot and Greenmaker will work strategically to broaden their respective product offerings into all stores. The companies announced the partnership this week in Boston during the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.
