In December 2005, CertainTeed's parent company, Saint-Gobain, the world's largest building products manufacturer, acquired BPB PLC of the United Kingdom, the world's largest gypsum manufacturer and the third largest U.S. manufacturer of suspended ceilings. Effective today, BPB's North American gypsum wallboard and ceiling businesses join the rich heritage and legacy of the 103-year old CertainTeed brand as CertainTeed Gypsum and CertainTeed Ceilings. In addition, Saint- Gobain's well-known Ecophon(R) and Decoustics ceilings product brands will become part of the CertainTeed Ceilings line.
