SWITCH TO LED TECHNOLOGY FROM PACIFIC ECO-LIGHTS MEANS COST SAVINGS, 15-MONTH ROI & REDUCED CARBON FOOTPRINT AT HAWAI‘I PACIFIC HEALTH

TACOMA, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pacific Eco-Lights, LLC, offering energy-saving LEDs that reduce electric bills and CO2 emissions, announces its newest customer: Hawai‘i Pacific Health (HPH) – Hawai‘i’s largest health care system comprised of four nonprofit hospitals, Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, Pali Momi Medical Center, Straub Clinic & Hospital and Wilcox Memorial Hospital and 44 outpatient clinics and service sites. In a climate where environmental responsibility can be perceived as a costly investment, Director of Facility Services Cory Pouliot advocates for green initiatives by showcasing ROI. Hawai‘i Pacific Health’s decision to switch over each of the four hospital facilities to LED lighting will help reduce HPH’s carbon emissions by 465,324.65 pounds per year from just the parking garages alone. How? LED lighting decreases the amount of heat emitted from light bulbs, so LED retrofitted facilities don’t heat up to the high temperatures of those using compact fluorescent, halogen bulbs and fluorescent tubes. This means less energy is used on air conditioning to keep hospitals cool. “Hawai‘i Pacific Health will be able to recover the cost of bulb conversion through energy bill savings in just 15 months,” explains Cory Pouliot, Director of Facility Services, “because Pacific Eco-Lights’s Seesmart™ LED technology uses 50% to 90% less electricity than a standard light bulb or compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL). You can’t ignore this kind of ROI. We tested several LED products from other companies for several months at Wilcox Hospital on Kauai and found that Pacific Eco-Lights has the best LEDs out there,” adds Cory Pouliot. It takes eight CFLs to equal the lifespan of just one LED lamp. And because LEDs draw less power, they last anywhere from five to 11 years longer than standard bulbs. LEDs are also free of the hazardous wastes (mercury and lead) found in CFLs, making these bulbs better for the environment. By retrofitting existing fixtures with LEDs, Hawai‘i Pacific Health is projected to save up to $10,000 to $12,000 per month from the conversion of just one of its parking garage facilities. Hawai‘i Pacific Health expects $1.2 million in combined savings per year retrofitting hallways, waiting areas, cafeterias and offices throughout its four hospitals. “We offer organizations an easy way to save money while helping the environment,” explains Bill Boyer, Pacific Eco-Lights’ founder and inventor of in-flight video-on-demand media player known as the 'DigEplayer'. “Customers can reduce their total lighting wattage used by 50% to 90%, thus substantially reducing their electric bills by switching to LED lighting.”
