Company Recognized for Efforts to Reduce Impact on Local Environment at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course WYOMISSING, Penn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Penn National Gaming, Inc. (Nasdaq: PENN) announced today that the Company was a recipient of the 2010 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The award highlights the Company’s commitment to the local environment surrounding Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course through the recent replacement of its onsite wastewater treatment plant. This state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant helps mitigate the impact of wastewater coming from the facility and treats certain wastewater for reuse in both track operations and in restroom facilities throughout the property. Since the opening of Hollywood Casino in 2008, we have provided employment to approximately 1,000 Pennsylvania residents and have generated over $27 million in tax revenue for Dauphin County. In addition, as a result of the water reuse system we save on average 25,000 gallons of fresh water a day, or over 9 million gallons a year. This is a good example of how initiatives like this system can have a big impact on our environment – something important to all of us.
