Parmenter Realty Awarded LEED Gold Certification

August 21, 2009

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Parmenter Realty Partners, a real estate investment, management, and development company is proud to announce the 1000 Parkwood office building, a ten-story building located at 1000 Parkwood Circle in the Cumberland Galleria submarket, has been awarded LEED Gold certification for existing buildings by the US Green Building Council, only the third such Atlanta building to achieve this status. The 211,544-square-foot property is owned and managed by Parmenter Realty Partners. Parmenter and its consultant Green Concepts International worked together to attain this certification, building on Parmenter's existing corporate green initiatives. Since purchasing the building Parmenter has aggressively pursued energy saving projects such as replacing the two building chillers, conducting a full building lighting retrofit, and re-commissioning the mechanical systems. Additionally the building has strengthened the green cleaning and recycling programs already in place. "These projects have reduced the building's carbon footprint, lowered tenant operating costs, and improved tenant comfort," says John C. Davidson, Parmenter Southeast Regional Director. Parmenter is also the owner of Overlook III which is also pursuing LEED certification. According to Jeff Frantz with Jones Lang LaSalle, the building's leasing broker, "LEED Gold certification gives 1000 Parkwood a competitive advantage, especially with corporate tenants who embrace both sustainability and the need to reduce operating costs during these challenging times." 1000 Parkwood Circle was built in 1985 and renovated in 2007. The building located at the corner of Powers Ferry Road and Parkwood Circle is nearly 90% leased and, in addition to a host of green programs and features, offers covered parking, a building conference facility, as well as a café.
