United Technologies Research Center Collaborates With Green Building Studio, Inc. for Advanced Building Energy Analysis Services

April 05, 2006

SANTA ROSA, Calif., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Building Studio, Inc. today announced that it had been selected to participate in a collaboration agreement with the United Technologies Research Center ("UTRC"), a division of United Technologies Corporation, to jointly develop advanced simulation software for commercial building energy analysis. The collaboration is part of an ongoing $11.1 million cost-sharing award from the National Institute of Standards and Technology Advanced Technology Program (see jazz.nist.gov/atpcf/prjbriefs/prjbrief.cfm?ProjectNumber=00-00-5641) awarded to UTRC and Oculus Technologies The project objective is to develop simulation-based design methodologies that improve integration and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and combined heat and power systems in commercial buildings, targeting energy efficiency gains of 30-40%. Green Building Studio's contributions will include a web-accessible energy simulator that will allow architects and engineers to evaluate design alternatives and optimize system performance in the early stages of building design. "In December 2005, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) called for a 50% reduction by 2010 of fossil fuel used to construct and operate buildings. Across the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction industry (AEC), the Green Building Studio web service is seen as the key design tool that will enable design teams to create tomorrow's efficient buildings today," said John Kennedy, President & CTO of Green Building Studio, Inc. http://www.Oculustech.com
