Soyad™ adhesive technology is a patented, formaldehyde-free adhesive system from Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH) that is used to manufacture interior wood products such as hardwood plywood, particleboard, medium-density fiberboard, and engineered wood flooring. Since 2005, more than 40 million hardwood plywood panels have been produced in North America with Soyad adhesives. In fact, the Hardwood Plywood Veneer Association (HPVA) of North America estimates that 56.8% of the hardwood plywood panels manufactured in North America during 2010 were made with Soyad adhesives.

Today, Soyad is used globally and is the adhesive system of choice for industry leading manufacturers who want to stay ahead of formaldehyde regulations and help improve indoor air quality.

Notably, Ashland was awarded a 2007 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award for its role in developing and commercializing its Soyad adhesive technology. Administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards Program recognizes chemical technologies that incorporate the principles of renewable green chemistry into chemical design, manufacture, and use.
