Accoya® is the world’s leading high technology long life wood. Created via acetylated wood modification, using sustainably grown timber, the Accoya® process is non-toxic. Wood Acetylation
Acetylation is a process which increases the amount of 'acetyl' molecules in wood, thereby changing its physical properties. The process protects wood from rot by making it "inedible" to most micro-organisms and fungi, without - unlike conventional treatments - making it toxic. It also greatly reduces the wood's tendency to swell and shrink, making it less prone to cracking and ensuring that, when painted, it requires dramatically reduced maintenance.
Accoya opens up new opportunities
A new world of high performance wood, sustainable, low maintenance products – including windows, doors, decking, cladding and glulam structural beams – is opened up by Accoya wood. Accoya wood is guaranteed for 50 years in exterior use and 25 years when used in the ground.
