Companies honored for UL-listed fire-rated glazing solution that provides both privacy and safety
MONTREAL, CANADA – January 24, 2012 – Unicel Architectural and Technical Glass Products (TGP) are pleased to be the recipients of USGlass Magazine’s 2011 “Product of the Year” award for Protective Glazing for their joint privacy and fire-safety glazing solution. Unicel’s patented Vision Control® louvers-in-glass are combined with Pilkington Pyrostop® fire-rated glazing from TGP to create the first such product assembly to achieve Underwriters Laboratories (UL) fire protection classification.
For the Product of the Year awards, USGlass readers are asked to vote for the industry’s most relevant products. USGlass has the largest
circulation of any glass magazine in the world.
“Working with TGP, we had a vision to create a glazing product that would address both safety and privacy concerns in healthcare environments,” said Jean-François Couturier, CEO of Unicel. “This vote of confidence from the readers of the glass industry’s top magazine is a wonderful validation of our combined solution. We believe our Vision Control® louvers with Pilkington Pyrostop® glazing are simply the best design choice for optimal patient privacy and safety.”
Vision Control® is a patented, hermetically sealed glass unit combining louvers within glass that can be customized to virtually any shape for interior or exterior glazing applications. Pilkington Pyrostop® is a fire-rated and impact safety-rated glazing material that blocks radiant heat, helping protect people and valuables on the non-fire side of the glass where heat transfer might be a concern. TGP is the sole North American supplier of Pilkington Pyrostop® glass.
The combined Vision Control® and Pilkington Pyrostop solution is featured in the December 2011 issue of USGlass Magazine, as well as online at http://www.usglassmag.com/digital/.
