First Ever APDIQ Excellence Awards Gala / 1er Gala des prix de l’excellence APDIQ

Montreal, June 3rd, 2011 – The Professional Association of Interior Designers of Quebec (APDIQ) presented on May 26 as part of its first APDIQ Excellence Awards Gala, five awards recognizing its designers that have demonstrated excellence, achievement, leadership or exceptional talent to serve others and bringing honor to the association. Igloo Design has won the "Employer of the Year 2011 – Category five employees or less". The owners Anna Abbruzzo and Alain Courchesne were rewarded for their innovation among others and their avant-garde. The award "Employer of the Year 2011 – Category more than five employees" went to a company that became known for its professional activities and for valuing its employees. As part of the 1st Annual Gala, the prize was awarded to Dumont designer conseil of Quebec City. As for the "2011 Lifetime achievement" award, it has been awarded to Michel Ducharme. This award recognizes the extraordinary achievements or efforts of members who have combined their personal qualities with technical skills, who have contributed uniquely to the efforts of the community and who have provided guidance throughout their careers. The prize "2011 Emerging designer" is awarded to a 0-3 year member who is distinguished by its ambition and its willingness to showcase interior design. This year the award went to Mylène Parent of A2 Design. The award "Member of the Year 2011" was awarded to two members, Natalie Junod and Sandra Corneau from Machine à design of Saguenay. They have contributed greatly to the reputation of the association and have proved to be outstanding ambassadors of the profession. During the APDIQ Excellence Awards Gala, members of the association and other invited guests enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate a symbiosis of major events in the design community: - World Interiors Day and the World Interior Declaration with the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) - Integration of APDIQ to Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) and the 1st anniversary of the reorganization of IDC - 1st Anniversary of Mission Design and preparations for Montreal 2017 - Start of celebrations for the 5th anniversary of the designation of Montreal as a UNESCO City of Design About the Professional Association of Interior Designers of Quebec (APDIQ) : Launched in 2003, the APDIQ acts as a classification and certification organization of the profession and has more than 350 professional members and 250 student members.
