May 04, 2011

Montreal, QC – May 2nd, 2011 – The L'Association professionnelle des designers d'intérieur du Québec (APDIQ) will become a full member of Interior Designers of Canada (IDC). On Friday, April 29th 2011, APDIQ members attending the Annual General Meeting in Montreal voted almost unanimously in favour of joining IDC, becoming the eighth provincial interior design association to do so. As provisional members of IDC, APDIQ has been preparing for membership in the national association for the past two years. “Participating fully in IDC is an exciting and important step for APDIQ and its membership,” affirms APDIQ president André Lapointe. “On January 1st 2012, as full members of IDC, APDIQ members will enjoy full rights and benefits, while strengthening the voice of our profession, nationally and internationally. By joining IDC, APDIQ members have voiced their commitment to uphold the education, experience and examination standards set by the national association, including a requirement to write the NCIDQ exam. Susan Wiggins, executive director of IDC, was present for the vote and congratulated APDIQ on their decision. “This is an exciting day for the interior design profession. We are thrilled to welcome APDIQ to the IDC family,” said Wiggins. IDC President David Hanson added, “As the second largest association of interior design professionals in Canada, having APDIQ as members strengthens the national voice of the profession. We recognize that this is a historic day for the Canadian interior design industry and applaud the Quebec community and all those who worked so hard over the past two years to make this happen.” »
