Localized Versions of Vectorworks 2011 Product Line Now Available in Europe

October 28, 2010

Columbia, Md. (Oct. 27, 2010) – Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. is pleased to announce that a number of its European distributors have released localized versions of the 2011 award-winning Vectorworks® line of design software, including: Vectorworks Designer, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Fundamentals and Renderworks®. Versions in each country’s native language are now available in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. "I'm sure the French users will appreciate the way 2D and 3D have been integrated in Vectorworks 2011, bringing the power of 3D to ordinary 2D objects,” said Thierry Beurey, owner of CESYAM, the Vectorworks distributor in France. “This version also brings many long-awaited improvements, such as text formatting, that will satisfy the needs of all Vectorworks users." The English-language version of the Vectorworks 2011 product line was released in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and other international markets on September 14, 2010. The 2011 version of Vectorworks software delivers several major improvements, including: - 2D/3D integration. Vectorworks software has now, more than ever, a true 3D modeling environment. 2D planar objects can be created and edited within a planar context, where they display with all their attributes. Users can work in Top/Plan view as usual, or switch to a 3D view and continue working in the same way, with the same tools and operations. - Improved Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities. The Vectorworks Architect program is even easier to use, and its state-of-the-art capabilities, new tools and features help get the job done faster and better, while communicating and exchanging files with colleagues and partners. It offers a greatly improved space object, along with new 3D wall components, and a new slab tool to enable architects to more accurately model and associate building components. - Best-in-class rendering. Renderworks 2011 is faster, easier, and more powerful than any previous version. Now based on the robust CINEMA 4D render engine, the results are breathtaking and easier to achieve. The new engine is fully integrated into Vectorworks software, so users can seamlessly visualize their work throughout the design process, producing clear and accurate renderings. With the click of a button, rendered viewports will update as the design evolves. Vectorworks 2011 also includes more than 70 improvements in usability and addresses some long-time wishes, such as the addition of “perfect preview” text editing, new tile fills, improved access to resource libraries and smaller file sizes.

Crystal Windows Chicago Facility Expands Midwest Distribution

October 19, 2010

– Manufacturer Now Supplies Regional Branches and Others – CHICAGO, IL, October 13, 2010 – Crystal Window & Door Systems has expanded the distribution capabilities of its Chicago production facility and now ships quality energy efficient vinyl and aluminum window and door products to company branches in the St. Louis and Cleveland areas. The manufacturer is also shipping products to window dealers and distributors and to major construction sites located throughout the Midwest. Besides the St. Louis and Cleveland areas, the Chicago manufacturing facility can now directly serve other major urban areas such as Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Indianapolis, Detroit, Columbus, Cincinnati and Nashville. This extension of distribution operations for Crystal’s Chicago plant is a direct result of the facility’s recent expansion of production capabilities with the addition of new equipment and new window lines. The expansion of production and distribution in Chicago are major steps in the ongoing integration effort started late last year between Crystal Window & Door Systems in New York and its Chicago affiliate Crystal Windows & Doors Illinois Manufacturing. Prior to the expansions and integration, Crystal’s Chicago facility only supplied the Chicago metro area and most Midwest customers received products manufactured in and shipped from New York City. Now, for most of the Crystal product lines, an expanding number of Midwest customers will benefit from improved turnaround and reduced delivery times. This expansion increases the overall capacity and flexibility of the Crystal Windows network of factories and logistics operations. The expanded distribution operations from the Chicago plant also offers potential benefits to owners, developers and architects seeking LEED credits for their buildings. With Crystal’s Union, MO aluminum extrusion facility located within 500 miles of the Chicago window assembly point, many projects within that 500-mile radius using Crystal aluminum windows may qualify for Regionally Sourced Materials LEED credits in addition to Energy Efficiency and Recycled Content LEED credits. The 80,000-ft2 Chicago plant now produces a major portion of the broad Crystal product line. Products manufactured include the Series 100, 200, 300 and 500 vinyl windows, the Series 2000A and 4000 aluminum windows, and the Series 1240 aluminum sliding patio door. Many of the Crystal standard vinyl window offerings are Energy Star® rated and when ordered with special options qualify homeowners for federal ARRA stimulus tax credit incentives.

Using ResinDek® Instead of Concrete - Saves Significant Money for Retailers' Distribution Centers

October 07, 2010

Cincinnati, OH – October 7, 2010 – Cornerstone Specialty Wood Products, LLC product line ResinDek® not only works well for mezzanine flooring, it is saving significant money in expansions and remodeling of work platforms. “We were able to pull in cost reductions in the footings, structural steel, and erection costs by using ResinDek® instead of concrete. We created savings of well over $600,000 on one project,” commented Russell Bergeron, President of Tri-R-Erecting and General Contractor on this project. “In today’s economy, it is important to look for every opportunity to use resources wisely. Since our ResinDek® flooring products are engineered to withstand live dead pallet jack limits up to 8,000 lbs., we started to do the math of converting elevated platforms that were specified to use concrete over to ResinDek® panels. Once the traditional mindset was changed, we found that we could save some customers well over a million dollars in their work platform expansions and upgrades,” stated Greg Doppler, President of Cornerstone Specialty Wood Products, LLC. “The structural integrity of using ResinDek® panels instead of concrete has been analyzed and approved by independent engineering firms so we know we have a solid cost savings approach. And in the current economic climate, that could mean the difference between a go and no-go project for many users of elevated platforms,” continued Greg Doppler. Cornerstone Specialty Wood Products works with architects, contractors, facility managers, business partners, and other distribution center experts to specify the best ResinDek® product for the application. About Cornerstone Specialty Wood Products, LLC Cornerstone Specialty Wood Products, LLC has ResinDek® flooring in warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing, and storage buildings worldwide. ResinDek® is offered in several grades for various weight bearing load requirements with numerous coatings offered for ESD (electro-static) and stain resistance. PanzerCAD Releases CameraMatch 2011 for the Vectorworks 2011 Product Line

October 05, 2010

Columbia, Md. (Oct. 5, 2010) – Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. announced today that PanzerCAD has released the 2011 version of its CameraMatch plug-in to be compatible with the Vectorworks® 2011 line of software products.. The CameraMatch 2011 plug-in allows a user to easily align a 3D model view to a photograph. With this plug-in, a user can also superimpose the rendered model into the photograph, saving time by eliminating the need to spend hours creating models of a project's surroundings. "We’re really excited about CameraMatch 2011,” says Matt Panzer, owner of PanzerCAD. “A lot of work went into this version, and it shows. Creating a composite rendering in an existing photo is even more accurate than before, and the new ‘image editing’ abilities can give you great finished renderings without even leaving Vectorworks.” Some of the new features in CameraMatch 2011 include: Completely Rewritten View Calculation Procedure This “under the hood” improvement makes calculated views more accurate and allows for more difficult situations. Mask Object's New Clone Mode The feature allows a Mask object to shift the photo image it displays, which lets a Mask object behave similar to the Clone tool in many image-editing applications. New Shadow Object The new Shadow object allows shadows and shading to be placed over the rendered image, eliminating the need to export to an image editor for adding simple shadows. Other New Features CameraMatch’s more efficient use of image resources greatly reduces file sizes. Mask and Shadow objects automatically clip any parts of themselves extending past the viewport’s crop. Located in the Baltimore/Annapolis area of Maryland, PanzerCAD has developed plug-ins for Vectorworks software since 1995 and provided architectural design/presentation services since 1994.
