Now that clients are accessing the Internet for ideas, we hope these 3-D designs will become an exciting new source of ideas and inspiration for designers and their clients.” Calling All Designers The KraftMaid collections of 3-D room models will continue to grow with designs created by KraftMaid’s team of expert designers. Plus, design professionals and even KraftMaid fans are invited to submit their SketchUp projects, ranging anywhere in size from an entire home to a small closet. W. R. MEADOWS Launches AIR-SHIELD™ JOINT FILLER

September 21, 2009

Hampshire, IL – W. R. MEADOWS has recently launched AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER, their newest product to support their popular AIR-SHIELD line of air barriers. AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER is a pre-mixed, cold-applied, single-component joint filler specifically designed to fill exterior sheathing joints in applications using AIR-SHIELD LM and AIR-SHIELD LMP water-based air barrier products, as well as standard AIR-SHIELD “peel and stick” membrane. AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER is designed to work with the AIR-SHIELD line of products to create a cohesive, seamless seal between joints in exterior sheathing. The appropriate AIR-SHIELD product can then be applied to create a positive, monolithic, permanent seal to protect the structure from moisture intrusion. This complete seal is a key component to keep the structure safe from the intrusion of damaging moisture, especially in joints, where even the slightest void can result in building envelope failure. When used with AIR-SHIELD LMP permeable air barrier, the use of AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER will not affect the product’s water vapor permeance. AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER is premixed and easy to apply. The product has excellent cohesive and adhesive strengths, and forms a complete building envelope protective shield when used with the AIR-SHIELD line of fluid-applied air barriers. The product is designed to fill gaps and voids larger than ¼”. For more information on AIR-SHIELD JOINT FILLER, call (847) 214-2100, e-mail info@wrmeadows.com, or visit www.wrmeadows.com.

New Whirlpool Gold(R) Free-Standing Double Oven Provides Flexibility, While Saving Time and Energy

September 10, 2009

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (September 10, 2009) – The new Whirlpool Gold(R) free-standing double oven is heating things up with an upper oven that uses 50 percent less energy and preheats in half the time, compared to a full size oven. Using the same cutout space as a range, homeowners can bake at two separate temperatures simultaneously. Additionally, with the double oven’s combined 6.3 cu. ft. capacity, it’s possible to bake a cake, slow roast a turkey with all the side dishes and have all of these ready by mealtime. According to previous Whirlpool Corporation research, the top unmet consumer need when it comes to cooking is energy efficiency. A recent survey revealed 84 percent of consumers said energy – not water or time – is most important to them when it comes to home appliance efficiency." “The Whirlpool brand double oven range provides homeowners with the benefits of a double oven without the built-in cost,” said Tracy Frye, contract senior marketing manager at Whirlpool Corporation. “Whether cooking two different things at once or making smaller meals that do not require heating a full-size oven, homeowners can save time, money and energy.” In addition to the Whirlpool Gold double oven range’s ability to bake, broil and warm in the upper oven, it can toast, eliminating the need for a toaster/toaster oven and freeing up counter space. Both ovens feature the Precise Clean(TM) cycle, which will automatically determine the length of cleaning time needed based on the number of times the oven has been used since the last self-cleaning cycle. The range’s eco-friendly Schott Ceran(R) cooktop contains no toxic heavy metals and minimizes cleanup with a smooth glass surface that withstands intense heat without cracking or chipping. In addition to a 6-inch warming zone on the cooktop, both ovens are also equipped with Sabbath mode, which will not automatically shut off after 12 hours and can maintain a set temperature for extended periods of time. The Whirlpool Gold double oven range is available in white, black and stainless steel. Methodology* This survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive via its QuickQuery(SM) online omnibus service on behalf of Whirlpool Corporation between December 29 and 31, 2008, among 2,042 U.S. adults aged 18 years and older. Results were weighted as needed for region, age within gender, education, household income and race/ethnicity. Propensity score weighting was also used to adjust for respondents’ propensity to be online. No estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated; a full methodology is available. Whirlpool Corporation Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index

September 10, 2009

Company's Sustainable Business Practices Recognized for Fifth Consecutive Year BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (Sept. 10, 2009) – Whirlpool Corporation today announced it has been named to the 2009/2010 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), an international stock portfolio that evaluates corporate performance using economic, environmental, and social criteria. This is the fifth year in a row that Whirlpool has been named to a Dow Jones Sustainability Index. “We are proud to be recognized by one of the world's most comprehensive reviews of sustainable business practices for five consecutive years,” said Jeff M. Fettig, Whirlpool Corporation's chairman and CEO. “Our ability to be included on this Index stems from the efforts of Whirlpool employees. I am proud of the people at Whirlpool who make our long-term commitment to social responsibility a reality.” Whirlpool Corporation has conducted business with integrity and given back to the communities in which it operates since its founding in 1911, long before sustainability became a focus of business and society. Nearly 40 years ago, the company established a corporate office for environmental control and, in 2003, Whirlpool became the world's first appliance manufacturer to announce a global greenhouse gas reduction target. Recently, the company announced that by 2015, it will make all the electronically controlled appliances it produces – everywhere in the world – capable of receiving and responding to signals from smart grids. Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. Based on the cooperation of Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX Limited and SAM they are intended to provide asset managers with reliable and objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios. Companies are selected for the DJSI based on a thorough assessment of general and industry-specific sustainability criteria including corporate governance, environmental performance, labor practices, and community development. The analyses are verified by an external auditor. Further information on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes can be found at www.sustainability-indexes.com. (Sept. 1, 2009) – McStain Neighborhoods and Brock Built have both been selected to receive a Whirlpool Corporation Excellence in Sustainability award for their sustainable insight in the building community. The award recognizes recent projects that demonstrate sustainable building practices, as defined by LEED(R) and NAHB guidelines, while featuring sustainable appliances from Whirlpool Corporation's portfolio of brands. The program provides builders with a variety of practical solutions to help make a sustainable difference, such as sustainable products, design tools and marketing assistance. "How you build makes a major impact on your community and the world. While many builders are just learning sustainable building practices, McStain and Brock Built are excellent role models, representing the future of residential building," said Tom Halford, general manager of contract sales and marketing at Whirlpool Corporation. McStain Neighborhoods is one of only a few Colorado builders to make a 100 percent commitment to the ENERGY STAR(R) program. This partnership is part of Water Wise, a new pilot study for the EPA's WaterSense program, which is designed to rate the efficiency of water fixtures and appliances inside new homes. East Park homes are outfitted with highly efficient appliance packages from Whirlpool Corporation. McStain is one of only nine U.S. green builders chosen to participate in the WaterSense pilot study.
