Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- List both the four BHMA standards and the NFPA fire safety requirements that apply to hinges.
Explain hinge basics such as hinge size descriptions, mounting configurations, bearing type and knuckle design.
Identify types of specialty hinges and indicate correct applications.
Specify appropriate size and type of hinge for specific locations.

Background: Jeff Wood was born in Los Angeles, California in 1956. He started his career in the hinge business in 1973 and has accumulated 35 years of experience in the door hinge industry. He spent 10 years employed as an Industrial Engineer. He moved on to the position of Vice President of Manufacturing for H. Soss & Co. and held that position for 5 years.
He is currently employed with PBB Inc. and is the President & CEO, a position that he has held for 20 years. Jeff has been a CSI Industry Member for 16 years and a Professional Member of DHI for18 years.
