Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Identify and describe the function and components of a trench drain.
Compare and evaluate advantages/disadvantages of different trench drain channel materials, grates and outlets.
List and discuss trench drain design considerations and criteria including ease of installation, load-bearing strength, hydraulics, chemical resistance and structural requirements.
Specify the appropriate functional trench drain system for a specific application, architectural or civil project, while maintaining required aesthetic qualities.

Background: Jim DelRe has been involved in the drainage industry for 20+ years. Working with architects, engineers and contractors Jim has experienced first hand what is required to make a drainage project successful, from design to installation. Jim is a former National Sales Manager for a polymer concrete trench drain company and currently holds the position as National Sales Manager of Zurn Flo-Thru Operations. Jim strives to increase the awareness of applications for trench drain and the correct products for those applications. Through continuing education on-line and box lunch presentations Jim and the Flo-Thru team educate and promote solutions to collection, isolation and conveyance of liquids and transmission lines throughout North America.
