- Discuss the benefits of a green kitchen remodel and explore how to incorporate green design elements into any kitchen remodel project to suit a client’s needs, lifestyle and budget.
- Determine what elements of a green kitchen remodel project can be deconstructed and reused or recycled, and which ones must be demolished and disposed of, causing minimal environmental impact.
- Identify design considerations, planning issues, and potential hidden problems that may arise during a green kitchen remodel.

Name: Andrea L. Hutchins, AIA, AKBD
Title: Project Manager, Design + Development Group, Whirlpool Corporation
Background: Andrea Hutchins is a Project Manager in the Design + Development Group of Whirlpool Corporation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy, is a Member of the American Institute of Architects, and a NKBA Associate Kitchen + Bath Designer (AKBD).
Andrea’s professional experience includes the architecture firms of Brooks Architectural, Inc., Mamola Associates Architects, P.C., Hobbs + Black Architects, and The Troyer Group. Andrea joined Whirlpool Corporation in 2008, where she specializes in partnering with the design and building industry through the creation of educational, informational, and experiential resources for design professionals. She speaks and teaches on behalf of the Whirlpool Corporation brands including: Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Maytag, and Gladiator GarageWorks about design and technology trends that impact residential architecture.
Active in both the professional community and her local community, Andrea is a member of the Southwest Michigan chapter of the AIA. Andrea volunteers with the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
