Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Identify how the use of air barriers contribute to overall energy savings, indoor air quality, and occupant comfort.
- Identify moisture sources and their methods of transport through the building envelope and explain the various effects moisture can have on a building.
- Differentiate between an air barrier and vapor retarder and understand their relationship with respect to above grade and below grade requirements.
- Identify several design options available to help prevent the intrusion of moisture into a building.
- Identify the importance of air barriers in a structure and how they can contribute to building sustainability.
