Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Describe the raw materials and the manufacturing process of medium density fiberboard (MDF) and how to select MDF which best contributes to sustainability and durability.
- Recognize and be able to classify the independent certification groups that set limits on MDF emissions from resin binders, thus eliminating any potential health concerns.
- List and explain the multiple environmental benefits of choosing MDF.
- Identify the three types of MDF door manufacturing methods and explain their relative advantages and limitations.
- Explain the contribution of durability to sustainability and identify characteristics of a durable MDF door.
