- List the constituents and their respective functions of masonry mortar, as well as the properties of masonry mortar that require consideration to facilitate a successful masonry project.
- Discuss the green features of factory preblended mortar and contrast the two ASTM specification methods (property specification and proportion specification) used to specify masonry mortar.
- State how factory preblended mortar can fulfill prerequisites needed to obtain LEED® credits.
- Compare the environmental benefits of specifying factory preblended mortar versus field mixed mortar.

With over 12 years of preblended masonry product industry experience, Nick has presented on factory preblended products for masonry construction and other topics in excess of 100 times around the nation to varied groups. He is a member of CSI, AIA, ALA and the ASA. He is also a NCMA Certified Masonry Testing Technition (CMTT).
Tom Peterson is the Western Regional Manager for SPEC MIX, Inc., a North American network of 57 factory preblended cementitious product suppliers. With over 15 years of experience in the concrete products, masonry, and stone quarry industry in both operations and marketing roles, Tom has dealt in many facets of the construction business. He routinely presents on factory preblended products for masonry construction and other topics several times a year around the nation to varied groups. He holds various certifications with the NCMA, ACI and NRMCA.
