AEC598 - Sun Control Devices: Shading and Daylighting...THIS COURSE IS NO LONGER OFFERED.
This course provides an overview of sun control devices including the various components and critical applications in order to meet a building’s daylighting and shading requirements.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Specify and detail exterior sun control devices and light shelves.
- Properly select when, where, and how to use sun control devices.
- State how daylighting and shading strategies contribute to earning LEED® points.
- Explain the environmental, social, and economic impact of effective shading and daylighting.
- Calculate projection factor and the solar heat gain coefficient for exterior sun control devices per ASHRAE 90.1.

Background: Brett Reinhardt is the Marketing Manager for Industrial Louvers and has been with the company for 9 years. Industrial Louvers is a family owned and operated business in which Brett is 3rd generation. His primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining sales and marketing tools, technologies, and strategies. He also manages the drafting/design and engineering departments for ILI. Brett actively participates in industry committees and meetings, and heads up ILI’s R&D team. Brett has a BA in Marketing Management from the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN), and is a LEED Green Associate.
