AEC459 - Developments in Power-Actuated Fastening Technology...THIS COURSE IS NO LONGER OFFERED

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Discuss the differences between powder-actuated and gas-actuated fasteners, as well as the different power-actuated fasteners (PAFs) available.
- Describe the safety and training requirements for using PAFs, and contrast the fastener holding mechanisms in steel versus concrete.
- Identify common PAF applications, particularly those involving cold-formed steel (CFS) decks.
- Summarize PAF approvals and guidelines from ICC-ES and AISI, including relevant test data.
- Compare the features and benefits of recent PAF developments, particularly full-tip knurling and blunt-tip studs, and discuss the benefits of PAFs in general.
