Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Describe the composition and nature of concrete, and discuss why moisture control is important for all types of concrete slabs.
- Discuss the physical properties of water and water vapor relative to how moisture effects the material properties of concrete.
- Recognize the root and auxiliary causes for different types of concrete flooring system failures, and discuss the importance and purpose of moisture and alkalinity testing.
- Analyze methods to risk avoidance, and design and specify for moisture mitigation for floors installed over concrete slabs.
