THIS COURSE IS NO LONGER OFFERED.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Identify air barriers in relation to the building enclosure and explain what happens when we do not effectively control air leakage, detailing the detrimental effects on how a building functions thus reducing the life span of a building.
- List the performance requirements of air barrier materials, components, assemblies and systems.
- Describe how market forces are moving building design and construction to be more energy efficient and airtight.
- Discuss recent changes in building code requirements and gain knowledge in market forces driving energy efficient buildings and energy security.

Name: Ryan Dalgleish
Title: Vice-President, BP Building Professionals Inc.
Background: Ryan Dalgleish is the Vice-President of BP Building Professionals Inc. He has been involved in the building envelope and building performance areas of construction in both the commercial and residential sectors for 15 years. Much of Ryan’s time is spent on technology transfer and training and he has been a trainer, facilitator and project manager for 10 years in this area. Ryan also is involved in research, development of training curriculum, and helping industries increase their professionalism.
Ryan has also published a number of papers for design and construction magazines and is frequently a speaker at various technical presentations dealing with the building envelope. Ryan currently serves as the president of his local building envelope council and sits on the board of directors of the national building envelope council.
