Moisture forgiveness is a building science concept generated by the demand for increased energy efficiency in the built environment. As buildings become increasingly tighter, they also can become more susceptible to moisture damage which can compromise the performance and durability of the building. Building owners, architects, and contractors must employ an integrated project delivery strategy to manage moisture effectively. Georgia-Pacific fiberglass mat gypsum products provide the moisture forgiveness that protects the performance of the structure and the inhabitants within.
Lamboo is an engineered, high performance bamboo product that is used within architectural, structural and design applications, and is structurally superior to its wood counterparts. Stramit USA is an innovative construction material manufacturing company that produces unique building components and systems at its 88,000 square foot facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Stramit’s process combines traditional light gauge framing with a proprietary and sustainable Compressed Agricultural Fiber (CAF) thermal insulator to yield Stramit CAFboardTM, a component that can replace traditional building materials like fiberglass insulation, gypsum board, medium density fiberboard, particle board, and sound-proofing panels in a wide range of commercial and residential structures. We begin with locally sourced wheat straw – agricultural waste – that’s grown and harvested not far from our Fort Worth, Texas, manufacturing plant. It’s a rapidly renewable material that’s often tilled back into the earth or burned, creating an undesirable carbon event. Instead, Stramit purchases and uses this straw, creating a new, secondary cash crop for wheat farmers, and manufacturing building components that are non-toxic, mold and pest resistant, energy efficient, highly sound absorbent, and nearly fireproof.
